Uncle Nearest

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey honors Nathan “Nearest” Green, the first known African-American master distiller. The brand, owned by an all-minority team, produces premium aged whiskey that celebrates Green’s legacy.

The whiskey range includes an 8- to 14-year-old blend, an 11-year-old single barrel, and a 7-year-old small batch. All are crafted using the Lincoln County Process, a filtering method introduced by enslaved people and taught by Nearest Green to Tennessee’s most famous whiskey maker.

Uncle Nearest focuses on sourcing high-quality Tennessee whiskies and bourbons. The brand uses a non-temperature-controlled aging process and a unique post-aging double filtration. These methods enhance the natural flavours of the whiskey. Since launching in 2017, Uncle Nearest has won over 75 awards, including “World’s Best” at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards and 15 Best in Class honours.

The whiskey is distilled, aged, bottled, and hand-labelled in Tennessee. The brand’s 270-acre distillery in Shelbyville, called “Malt Disney World,” represents its dedication to quality and innovation.
